Dental Therapist

Black and white portrait of a woman with short blonde hair, smiling, wearing a dark top, against a plain background.

Anna qualified as a dental hygienist in 1999 at Manchester University and then a dental therapist in 2004 awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons London and continues to remain active in developing as a dental care professional. She has previously held the role of General Dental Council Representative for the Northwest Regional group for the British Dental Hygienist Association.

Anna has a wealth of experience working in hospital settings and general practice. She has worked as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside maxillofacial surgeons providing care for oncology patients, trauma patients and patients with genetic defects such as cleft lip and palate, providing care before, during and after surgery. The role also included treating patients with complex medical needs that proved to be tricky to deliver in a general practice setting. Anna has had previous experience working as a staff hygienist at the dental hospital on the prosthodontic department working closely with partially dentate and implant patients. In general practice Anna has worked with specialist periodontists, implantologists and orthodontists, supporting their treatment plans and providing a high standard of care.

Anna joined the team at Calm Dental in 2013 and in 2019 completed further training in facial aesthetics. She now has an ever-increasing client base and a following of regulars. Anna prides herself on making subtle and discreet changes to enhance and rejuvenate clients to achieve a fresh and youthful look.

Anna also works part time as a Clinical Lecturer at Manchester University, leading the senior year groups through their degree course. Educating the next generations of dental hygiene and therapy students is very rewarding as delivering clinical lectures, supporting students clinical learning and examining throughout their course ensures Anna remains at the forefront of her role for the benefit of her students and her patients. In support of her role Anna has recently completed an internationally recognised teaching qualification to become a Teaching Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

In her spare time Anna enjoys spending time with her family and friends, keeping fit, playing padel and taking her dog for nice walks.
